The first dog I remember having was before I\nwas old enough to go to school. Because we\ntraveled often with the U.S. Navy, we didn\u2019t have\nanother dog until my dad retired. By then my\nsister, Lydia, and I were in high school, so we took\nsome responsibility for caring for the dog we had,\na cockapoo mix we named Poochie. Our younger\nsister was a toddler and couldn\u2019t say his name\nand so he was forever called Pooshie. He was a\nfun little dog, and he went with us to live in the\nmountains east of San Diego. He had a hard time\nwith all the stickers in the tumbleweeds and so he\nwent back to town to his mother\u2019s home. During\ncollege I didn\u2019t have any animals while I lived in the\ndorm for five years, which included a grad year.\nThe year after I graduated, I had a cockapoo\nnamed Fritzi, a very sweet dog. Years later my\nhusband and I started raising rottweiler pairs and\nwe did that until just before he passed away.\n

Those dogs were incredibly faithful and\nstrong, well-behaved and gentle giants. The\nneighbors during those decades of dogs had a\nvariety of dogs and we really got to know and\ncherish their personalities and quirks. I spent a lot\nof time writing poetry during those days and was\ninspired to write about The Dogs in the Hood!\nEnjoy!\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
