Paula Peterson
Paula Peterson was born when I was just about ready to graduate from high school. Since then, she has been my “baby”. I’ve loved her like she was my own and I still do after all these years.
Babies grow up and Paula was no exception, soon having sweet babies of her own. Since I was unable to have children, I cherished every moment I could have with her kids as Aunt Cherry. When her children were young, she began to visit my classroom to observe and to assist me when she could. That’s when she began to tell me that she wanted to be just like me when she grew up.
That was the beginning of her journey to becoming an educator. She went back to school and finished her degree, but then she decided to go further, earning her elementary education credential in multiple subjects. That was soon followed by earning a Special Education Credential as well as her Masters Degree in Special Ed!
Paula became one of the finest Resource Specialists I have had the pleasure of working with. She was parent friendly, writing reports, learning plans, and goals for her special needs students. They were easy for other educators and administrators to follow and were the best I ever saw during my career in a leadership position where we worked together. Paula became every student’s favorite teacher and still stays in contact with many of them. She made me so proud, especially when she began to create motivating materials for her reluctant students. We collaborated on many thematic lessons, and even though she has retired, she is still motivated to help me with my current publishing projects, my website and more.
I couldn’t ask for a better coauthor! She’s well educated, informed and able to take my lead on new things, sometimes asking me if I have anything new for her to work on. Paula is my best friend, my sister, and my co-author! Who would ask for anything more?
With Love, Cherry
